so cardboard and kitchen waste is no longer allowed in the green bin?? they may as well come and collect mine as it wont be used now.

will they ever get it right. everyone has just got used to the 2 bin and box system and now the goal posts move again.

we will soon have 20 bins lined up outside each house.

The green bins may as well be replaced by composting bins, now, as they will serve no other use!

The bulk of our green waste is cardboard, especially at this time of year.

They can come and remove mine also. It'll only be used when I cut the grass in the summer.
There are restrictions on the colour you paint your house, some you can't have an external aerial, can't change the style of your windows, can't fit double glazing, can't fit a satellite dish, can't park a van outside......................but you can stick as many skanky, smelly wheelie bins outside as you wish.
I look around my street and they're everywhere.

So grass is about the only thing you can put in the Green Bin. They can save money by not bothering to collect the green bins during the winter.

Bearing in mind that the bin is our property and we are responsible for its welfare, should we damage, lose or just need a replacement we have to fork out for a new one, the council in their infinate wisdom have declared that, if we have no lawn, our green bin is now redundant.
I assume we will be able to sell them back to the council and that our grey bin collections will to their proper weekly collections. (dream on I hear you cry)
Bring on the local elections and the hope that someone will address this situation logically and sensibly, and not with all the political mumbo jumbo that gets spouted  Angry

'Dream' indeed! Grey bins emptied once a week! It's unbelievable that this doesn't take place. It's beyond my comprehension that anybody should consider it acceptable to have so much rubbish stored in our town for a full two weeks.

It seems a bit strange that in our "health & safety" concious culture these days and with everyone afraid of being sued for the slightlest little thing that this allowed to continue. Perhaps we should threaten to sue the council "en mass" for the stink and maggots etc that eminate from it during the warmer weather  Blink

I heard the Council Spokeswoman on the radio giving a statement about this. The "spin" on it was amazing!
She said that because the people of West Wiltshire had done so well and were recycling so much cardboard that the Council were opening 30 recycling facilities for cardboard at the existing sites to meet the demand!

No mention that people are frantically recycling cardboard in their green bins because if it goes in the grey bin there is no way it will last a fortnight with the lid closed!

She made it sound like they were doing us all a huge favour.

I think its a disgrace and yet another sub standard service from our council tax.   I have raised this as an agenda item for the next full town council meeting and I can assure you all your comments from this forum will come into the debate.

Ok, great, it is the managment though, at fault, not the workers. They do a thankless stinking task with extra pressures, like more hours, change of contracted shifts, mediocre pay......

It is them pulling the strings (as always) that are failing us Undecided
