in a 100 years will it really matter

« on: December 22, 2011, 18:16:54 »

Now i am for enterprise, but not at any cost. How can this new Taxi business operating next door to the Lions Book shop ever get away with parking their fleet on the pavements next to the old model shop and other shops along that road. I saw two, genuine motor scooters users, really struggling to pass here.
This must stop right Now. and i will make sure their cars are moved to a safer location.

Well said Dorien.   It seems certain business can flout the rules to suit.   I too have seen a lady on a Mobility Scooter struggle to negotiate what is a fairly wide path because of imbeciles who park regardless.   Lets face it taxi drivers in my opinion are a law unto themselves across the country but we do have 1 or 2 exceptions in Westbury thankfully, the 2 names who spring 2 mind are Clive and Collin they seem to be more considerate.

Complain to the council then - they're the ones who licence taxi companies and are responsible for enforcing parking....

Dorian , It would be much more helpful , if you could contact personally the unitary councillor for this ward to deal with this new Issue, which has sprung up very quickly. The councillor for this area is myself.
I will speak to the owner and relay concerns about his vehicles parking on the pavements , thus blocking pedestrian access.Sometimes letting people know they are causing problems Is better than jumping in gung ho , like you seem to be suggesting you are going to do.If this business is then not complying , It will come to the attention of the police who are responsible for this type of behaviour , and then I will also speak to the relevant department at Wiltshire council tommorrow.

Have to agree with Badger here, there are established ways and means for sorting these things out without reorting to exasperated viligantism.

Why make things harder than they have to be?

OMG
I know now why so few people post. All i said was as a geniune westbury resident i would sort it. So now words like Vigilante, and Gung ho comes into the text.
Bye everyone who wish to be aggresive, bye Town Forum.
I made a statement, and that was all. I have been to the Police Station and made a my point. BUT AS A CURRENT COUNCILLOR i did have a few phone calls regarding this Taxi business, so i did the proper thing.
So Bye everyone, Bye

Just been down the town now and I see there is a car parked right in the middle of the pavement, still, nothing will be done about.

OK then, as its you Old Codger, i will respond, because you are concerned about pavement safety.
I know the vehicle in question is parked there during the normal week, so please may i suggest you.
1. Take the registration number of the vehicle
2. Trundle down to the Police Station and give them the registration.   Job Done.....Hopefully!!
