The other week Total seemed to mess things up when they put diesel in there petrol tanks and damaged lots of cars.
Well they have done it again.
Yesterday my girlfriend put £20 of diesel in the car, she had a few problems with it running yesterday. It was booked in a garage today for some work, and they have just phoned me to say its had petrol put in it. Oh dear another cock-up by Total.
We are fuming (pardon the pun) as the garage reckon its £130+ to fix it.
Can't get any contact phone numbers off the net for them. Don't think we will be getting fuel from there ever again.

frickin useless!!
i never ever use that garage as the guy(s) serving is always on the phone and seems very uninterested in the customer so i take my custom elsewhere.
i know its the only petrol station in westbury but i'd rather go to morrissons in warminster and know what im putting in my tank!!
plus its cheaper.

I don't think the garage owners are responsible for filling the tanks. My understanding is that the tanker drivers are the ones who connect the hoses to the tank inlets. It is therefore an error on the part of the tanker driver or the tankers were filled incorrectly at the depot.

What gets me is why are they still selling fuel when they know they have a problem.
They've acknowledged there is a problem, but they don't seem to be doing anything about it.
Surely they should shut down the forecourt, drain the tanks, then refill with the correct fuel.
It seems to me they are more than happy to let more and more people break down, before they get the problem sorted.
I suppose the cost of repairing a few hundred cars is far less than shutting the petrol station until the problems fixed.

Especially as the wrong fuel issue is probably down to TOTAL and not the garage owners.

I doubt they would be Interested as most of their staff are saying in the supermarket they are suffering big time and are dead, staff have been leaving and they are not being replaced on a massive scale. I predict if they get their store in Trowbridge they will be gone from Westbury , and sell to another retailer ie lidil or the similar sought of store.

Going back to the Filling Station thread and not Morrisons, I notice this evening at 5.45pm that it is shut and there are 2 suction lorries with pipes going into the underground tanks.

Oh my goodness, I went in and filled up this morning but my car seems ok. I've not heard of it happening previously either but I think I might go somewhere else for a while now.

Lets hope that they are doing something about it now, and removing the wrong fuels from the wrong tanks.
We had a bill for £130, which could have been alot worse.
Fortunately our fuel tank wasn't completely empty, the garage said because the car came straight in (it was booked in anyway for other work) and that we had only driven less than 15miles. The petrol probably hadn't got completely through the system.
We had the system drained, cleaned and a new fuel filter installed, and was told to fill it with diesel which would hopefully be ok. Apparently with diesel cars the fuel pump uses the diesel to lubricate it or something, and obviously petrol would really cause this damage. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that, that hasn't got damaged and the car won't break down again.
Anyway we are now going to go through the process for claiming this back off Total. This surely won't be straight forward!!!!!
I think we will be giving Total a wide berth from now on as well.

Ok so over the weekend we receive a letter from Total, explaining that there is no problem with the fuel at the Westbury petrol station, there never has been and all fuel sent out from their depots goes through strict checks etc etc before reaching the petrol station, and whilst it's being unloaded.
So if there wasn't the wrong fuel in the car, then Nissan Platinum in Trow are having a laugh.
The fault which prompted us to take the car in happened again this morning, so if there wasn't the wrong fuel in the car, then we have be charged for something that wasn't wrong with the car.
We have had a lot of dealings with Nissan in Trow of the past few months, and can't express how upset and disappointed we have been with the service from them, now to charge us for something that wasn't wrong with the car (as the fault happened again) is really the icing on the cake.
I'm also a bit miffed how Total can say that they have never had any problems with the fuel at the Westbury petrol station, when they so evidently did the other week!!!!
It seems like with all these big name companies now, they just arn't bothered about customer service / relations.
