50 quid is about the going rate for these kinds of things, plus I suppose they have to pay Ian Lawman quite a bit, him being famous and all that Wink
I would have loved to go, hey!!! perhaps we could set up a night vigil at the pool to raise funds for the forum?Huh Who owns the pool now, is it the town?? I lost track of it all.

The pool is owned by the people of westbury , and Wiltshire Council are the trustee's who employ DC leisure to run it.

Mike, I was under the impression that Mr Laverton left a good portfolio of property to the town of Westbury, but some of it has been stolen by the then District Council (now WC) and they believe they own it and are not trusstees or custodians of it.   It would be wrong for Westbury to loose any of the properties left by the Laverton family to the town, but, like the PCT before them with the hospital, ownership (no mater how they got it) seems to be 99% of the law nowadays.

I agree Charlie. Wiltshire Council appear to be making the decisions about what happens to the Pool. However, as it appears to be losing money they want to "graciously" want to hand it back. It belongs to the people of Westbury, and they must decide its' future!

Charlie the pool has not be stolen from the town , as I have posted earlier the pool belongs to the people of westbury that my friend will not change. I reminded Wiltshire council of this last year , hence why they are stuck with this building they can not sell it or dispense with it untill a suitable trust comes along to take over the trust for the town.
Ihave also stuck the biggest clog in the wheel by having this pool Listed , which has made wiltshire council' s postition more difficult , here in westbury. As the unitary councillor for this ward , iam happy at present to let the situation carry on as it is , as there is no one with a suitable plan to take it over , and that the cabinet plans at the county council keep on changing from month to month, with the current one being a campus , that will no doubt change aswell , in the meantime westbury pool remains open , should it change , believe me i will act quicker than a nuclear warhead to preserve this for our town.
