Between the Portman time and the job agency wasn't there also a business selling beauty products or similar? or was that after the job agency?

It was Middleton and Majors the estate agents, and they also looked after the letting of the shops in the High Street, they were there for many years

you are quite correct Mike it was called Saxon hair and Beauty supplies , didnt really work out , as they where selling straight to the public , who had probably no idea what to do with the stuff what hairdressers do when using proffesional products they have to be trained  , they went bust within months , the hair trade wouldnt touch them

I'm probably wrong, but didn't it used to be "Reg Smith & Ford" sports shop a long time ago? I'm talking late 70s early 80s.

Apparently closed in 2000, and is now a private residence

Or closed in 2001, according to this

I love the internet and it's accuracies
