Certain people and authorities believe we should be satisfied with paying the same county rates, but settle for the skim after the cream has been taken by others.

Sadly, some town councillors are no longer interested in protecting the town but are using their positions to boost their own egos and interests (ambitions), and settle personal scores (real and imagined). The agenda for the last Town Council meeting was so full of pathetic motions by councillors and of no real value to the town, that I am wondering seriously as to whether it worth while carrying on representing Westbury with these people!!

There are other ways I can serve the town that I seriously wonder whether to quit the Town Council!

We are a small town, and we are treated as the poor cousin by Wiltshire Council (just as with West Wiltshire Council before). Our Town Councillors and Unitary Councillors should be fighting to get the best for the town. Sadly, many, but not all, do not see this, and see themselves "in power" instead of "representing"!

As Charlie Finbow will remember, some need reminding that this is Westbury, NOT Westminster!!

Mr Hawkins is a complete gentleman who is very sincere. I totally agree with his remarks, he dilligently goes about his work without seeking adulation or reward.

Thanks Dorian! You and I both know who I am referring to. I just hope they recognises themselves and work towards a better Westbury!

I doubt i will stand again , perhaps the people who love to have a pop all the time at the councillors who actually do work hard for this town, might like to get up in the snakepit of westbury council and show us all where they seem to know what we are doing wrong , im looking forward to next council elections to see what characters come forward .

Hi MCM, aren't the people having a pop at the Councillors, councillors or ex councillors themselves?. They know the council is in a mess and wish to speak up.

The people talking are some of the most experienced and respected in the community, we should listen to them.

My dear scarlkson , the council is in fine working order , and getting on with the business better than before.
I will not and refuse to enter into any debate with ex- councillors over disagreements with other current town councillors, Indeed I get on with charlie Finbow , and Mike Hawkins quite well so , I do not see the point in entering whether I agree or disagree with their statements on public forums ,my entering a disagreement would be hardly beneficial to the public , this is my stand , and sometimes it is better to keep a dignified silence on disagreements on other forums rather then enter the debate.

When councillors are quitting due to continual in fighting and divisive (and poorly supported) statements are  being released in the council's name, then it is hard to believe that everything is well.

By saying things are good when they are contradicting you, IS entering the debate. The difference being they gave evidence of their position and you failed to.

It has seemed to me that the councillors just us expect us to believe everything is fine and get haughty when a member of public tries to hold them to account. Russell's response to my relative on the other forum being an example.

Shouldn't Mike Hawkins and Charlie Finbow give us an insight into the Council?, particularly if they feel the public should know things aren't right?. Why are councillors being rude to them for speaking up? (Speaking generally not at yourself Mike). By criticising them instead of giving credible answers to the questions they pose only gives credence to the claims that the council is overrun by egos.
