Seems obvious to me that there are enough people posting - it's just across 3 different forums. I can't see the point in merging any forums - you might as well just let one close...but this is where I think egos come into it - everyone wants a bit of the power and control.

I can see that it must be difficult moderating a forum - I wouldn't want to do it.

Also I think that banning Russell from this forum was a mistake (yes I know he said he left of his own accord etc). The truth is, he is a knowledgable, controversial character - something these forums thrive on.

I'm not saying he's not a prat -but he gets people talking...

Wholeheartedly back Bazza with what he was written above.  And I thank him to for being such a great moderator, and friend to the forum.

Seems some people were intent on stirring trouble and that left a bad taste.

I would be sorry to see this Forum go, it was started with good intentions, has seen some good debates, but also
as Bazza says also legal threats etc etc

We always needed to draw new members in, which we did, but getting people to post is a whole different ball game.

Quote
No. Justice was given a 2 day ban (over a weekend) because he has a spat with Russell in a thread where he called Russell a tit after Russell made a pointed and rather silly remark. I removed Russell's remark and Justices reply. Shortly afterwards Justice started a thread poking fun at Russell (bullying, one might say), which I deleted. Justice then did the same thing again, starting a thread with nothing other than a taunt to Russell. I deleted that thread and banned Justice from posting (not from the forum, just posting) for the rest of the weekend as I was going away that afternoon and would not have been about to deal with his childish antics.

Yes, you could argue I censored Justice. But it is not as simple as you say Farmer Geddon, not as simple at all. Rose, since you would have no clue as to what happened, might I suggest you don't tell people what happened (or your version which is incorrect). And MCM, really, grow up.

I have no beef with Justice, he seemed like a nice chap. We all have our off days when we post things that perhaps are unhelpful and childish (even I do it). He was never banned from the forum fully, he was told he was just muted for the weekend. Its a shame he didn't accept it for what it was. It was his choice to leave and I respect that. He is welcome back anytime so far as I am concerned.

Having takern a peek at the other forum, co.uk it seems moderation is still being questioned, critiqued or justifed,  .........................................

It's got people posting though - people like controversy! If there was no conflict it would be boring...

It looks like on the community forums only Badger and Pat post anything now.

And on the .co.uk site it is mainly Debs

This is the busiest site at the moment, so the answer to the question above is a very big NO

You hit the nail on the head. At the moment this is the busiest. The others have their moments as well. I personally don't think we need three - but some posters here wouldn't be happy going to the .co.uk forum and a lot of posters there wouldn't or couldn't want to post here.
As for MCM's forum, too much moderation/censorship on that one for me. Besides I don't think he likes me much.

Bob , I don't know you well enough to say I do not like you , I have always found you pleasnt on this forum , the other one not , believe me I take what people say on forums with a pinch of salt now , it used to upset me big time when people say unpleasant things about me now I do not care.whats the old saying whilst they are talking about me they are leaving someone else alone lol. so no I do not dislike you.
the community forums is now moderated by Pat now and i leave it to him.

I agree that this one is the busiest - but a few months ago it was the dark side. I can't even access Mike's to see what's going on there - but from what I can gather it isn't quite on par with the others.

Personally I find the .co.uk one more friendly - but it has been very quiet on there lately. I like Al's moderation style, and whether you like it or not Baldy does contribute a lot to the forum.

I do like this forum but I do feel like a bit of an outsider here (it's probably cos I'm originally from Melksham).

And Bob - I still loves ya!

I dont think that this forum should close as i've only just joined. I do think that it could do with some more local, topical discussions though. But I know what Westbury is like as i've lived here for many years and not much really happens to talk about
