All I keep reading is how Kate Middleton is the first 'commoner' in x number of years to marry a royal and how she is spending her last days as a 'commoner',i hate this word about somebody and wish it was left back in the past, I thought that being in the 21 century everyone was created equal,no matter race, creed or colour.
Why is this country so obsessed with class and status,i am a British citizen with no class, title or nobility,so does that make me a lesser person?
Surely words like these are out of touch with our politically correct times, and the biggest culprits are the media which make such and song and dance whenever this sort of thing comes to light.
We are so class ridden that we are even allowing our politicians to get away with calling themselves ''The Political Class''. Now that goes back to Ancient Greek and Roman Times.

I agree Westburylad, but it is not the people who have stuck with this "commoner" title, but the Press.

Ignore it. We are all humans, born, work, pay taxes, and die!

This Is where the press do not know what they are talking about, A commoner is someone who Is not a soverign , Duke , Earl or baron , thus till recently had an automatis right to sit in The House of Lords .

So In fact The Lady Elizabeth Boyes- Lyon was the first commoner to marry In the Royal family In recent times, later to become the Queen Mother . Diana Princess of Wales was also a commoner  when she married .
And In fact Prince William Is offically a Commoner until he Is given the status of a Dukedom etc .
