Fairy Tales?

Are fairy tales old hat?  Do they no longer have a place in our modern Society?

Do they send out the wrong messages to children?

Ie, Cinderella, ok to be down trodden, doing chores etc.... Unrealistic views of being rescued by a prince etc etc

I ask because it is being discussed on TV

Personally, I say, any books, all books, all fantasy, any escapism aimed at children is good, and should not be questioned.

My kids have all loved the old fashioned tales and the movies that later went with them.
