I heard a small snippet of this today on TV, apparently next month in Surrey, there will be trials of a National Phone service for people to book an appt with their GP, in a bid perhaps to eventually phase out your local GP receptionists role.

If this comes into practise then I think it is an utter disgrace, I fail to see how such a service can be efficient.   Angry Angry

It would not be more efficient, CC, just cheaper, which is all Government thinks about nowadays! I do wonder whereabouts in India the call centre will be!
