As I have mentioned on here before I never used to worry about spiders until my friend got bitten by one and ended up in Hosp for a month  Undecided

I missed that CC - and had no idea.

In the UK, spiders are not normally thought of as hazardous to health. So it may come as a surprise that a dozen or more species resident in the UK are capable of causing a significant or unpleasant bite.

Although she cannot prove it, the incident happened after rummaging through Bananas in a local super market.   She had a bite on her finger, steadily felt more and more ill as the day went on, and ended up seriously ill in Hosp in Bath for a month, she was very lucky to get over it so well, but lost part of her finger.

Have never picked up bananas in the same way again!!
