LMS Pacific steam loco Duchess of Sutherland is due to haul a London - Bristol - London excursion on Thursday 7th October.

This engine is almost at the end of its certificate to operate on the mainline, so last chance to see this magnificent locomotive in action, possibly for some time.

Times not posted yet, but I will add them as soon as I can.

46233 has been to Westbury several times in preservation, and always puts on a great display climbing Upton bank on the return leg. Though I am afraid at this time of year it will be dark when it gets there. Tough choice, pounding through the station to get up speed for the climb, or all that steam and the glow from the firebox as it goes under the bridge at Upton Scudamore................

now listing as 60019 Bittern in charge, but equally stirring smoke and steam effects at Upton.

Details now showing LNER Gresley A4 Bittern in charge of this service, Bittern is a sister engine and same shape streamlining as Mallard

Quote
34067 46201 46233 60019: Waterloo-Woking-Guildford-Havant-Salisbury-Bristol and return
[60019 replaces 46233 34067 and 46201 which are all unavailable]

this seems to be confirmed by there being a movement today (5th) by 60019 from the National Railway Museum at York to Southall yards.

Gresley A4 60019 Bittern is the rostered loco for this excursion

Warminster 1321
Westbury 1329
Bradford Junction 1337

Bradford Junction 1818
Westbury 1823
Warminster 1833

Remember Westbury is a working station. Always abide by the instructions of the station staff, who I always find considerate and tolerant on these events.
