One of the largest ever finds of Roman coins in Britain has been made by a man using a metal detector.

The hoard of more than 52,000 coins dating from the third century AD was found buried in a field near Frome in Somerset

The story of the excavation will be told in a new BBC Two archaeology series, Digging for Britain, presented by Dr Alice Roberts, to be broadcast in August.

My girls were playing in a stream and gathered a massive collection of broken crockery which they are convinced are from Roman times.

Did not realise until it was too late that Alena had gathered most of the (sometimes green smelly) bits in her lovely pink floral sun hat  Undecided

It is now on my patio having been brought home in a carrier bag, and washed several hundred times, ready for selling off for riches  Roll Eyes Tongue

Louise who runs it is really lovely and has young kids herself.

Just come back as I was taken for a cream tea to Bratton cafe. Up for sale again. I've been going on and off for 15 yrs now and have lost count of the owners.

You didn't pop next door to book a hair appointment in our salon then Hermes??

It is nice over there.  I had a current offer in with the owners of the cafe, but they aren't accepting it at this stage.

Sorry Phil,

be careful of that cafe, it looks such a good proposition but doesn't seem to have enough passing traffic. Sunday lunches for the locals did well at one time, but it seems to be just a bit too far from Westbury. It needs a really good usp, but I'm damed if I can think what it would be. The garden centre had some terrific hanging baskets.

Don't worry i've been all over the accounts, maybe this is why my offer (a lot less than the asking price) has been refused.

The garden centre do, do some nice things.

The location is great, but like you say just that little bit to far from Westbury.

Still our salon is doing ok, word is getting around.  We have returning clients from Westbury, Trow, Warminster and even as far as Chippenham, that come for appointments.
