'Unfair' parking fines system should be overhauled - campaigners

The parking fines system should be overhauled to stop councils benefiting financially and forcing motorists to pay often trivial fines, a coalition of campaigners has said.
Earlier this month, figures showed that councils raised £1.9 billion in parking fees and fines last year, with some doubling the amount of money they took from drivers.

Fury in Westbury as council ends free parking subsidy
Nice quotes from Mike (Hawkins):

Its like most of these things, its just another tax. What happens to the money behind these things - wherever it goes - seldom ends up back where it was originally levied.

Agree with you completely Yokel. Just like the BBC in my humble opinion. The whole thing about Radio 6 is a diversion to stop the BBC being cut down to a sensible level and the license
fee
tax being greatly reduced. I don't like the BBC and would sell off most of it. Of course car parking is an unjust tax. As I said above, paying to park on public land to spend money in the shops is, if you think about it, completely unreasonable.
