By that I mean shops rather than papers etc......

Spotted a lovely desk and wardrobe in Elliotts Shop in Westbury High St, and thought it would be ideal, expressed an interest and the woman did me a great deal, I said I would be back in the next day, but i could not reserve it without payment which is acceptable, but when I went in yesterday it had gone!!! I was so disappointed.

Can anyone recommend a good place to look?

these are quite good loads there.

Alternatively try ebay and sort choices by nearest to you first.

When I drove past today CC, I noticed the relocated White Elephant Shop now in Trowbridge had some nice things in the window. They are near Lloyds Bank.

The Imperial Charity Shops in Westbury have some nice things from time to time and if you ask them they will keep an eye out, if you want something special.

I bought my fridge and washing machine at auction, but its luck on the day.
There used to be a good secondhand furniture shop in Melksham but not sure if it is still there. More or less opposite the turning down to the Post Office, set back in a sort of courtyard.

Thanks, I appreciate the suggestions, I did try the WHite Elephant the other day but they did not really have childrens units wardrobes etc, I was hoping to get the kids a desk type item as well at some point, the old school variety, used to love mine as a child.

Thanks again
