Just an apology to Mike C-M and others who got turned away or had to wait some hours. We had only thought about 40 people would turn up but we had well over a hundred and quite a few brought multiple items. The valuer was overwhelmed. Still when we do it again in the Spring we will learn and expect more people and have more valuers. Who would have thought Westbury was such a hot bed of antiques. Some very nice things turned up too.

Why apologise to Mike C-M? He's not an antique is he??

He got turned away Mike along with 20 or 30 others as we just couldn't take in any more people. We were supposed to finish at 5pm, but even restricting entry I didn't finish till about 7pm. The valuer (who told us how many he usually got at such an event) was amazed at the response in Westbury. Perhaps this shows a hidden demand for an antiques shop in the town ?

hermes it will be interseting to hear what treasures what turned  up? i did come down with a middle east diplomatic gift still in the original case , I wanted it valued as this was I wanted to be valued and placed in auction for a westbury charity ,  which is sat in a cupboard and would serve a local charity if money  could be raised by it, iwill take it now and see how much we could raise for it, brilliant show today and can you do more ? applause applause applause

We hope to plan another day for the Spring but hopefully with several valuation tables. As I said there does seem to be the demand which caught all of us a bit by surprise. That sounds most interesting what you have Mike C-M. You can approach

direct of course, or as alternatives

The highlight for me personally was a lady who brought in several very old books, one dated 1801 (books are my thing) and another lady with a Stradivarius violin. But some fascinating porcelain as well. Several people walked away with big smiles so they must have had good valuations.
