i think it made the point very well that the wrong route was chosen and that is the main reason that the bypass was thrown out

Depends on which side of the town you live. I'm pretty sure a western bypass would have been refused as well. Anyway it's all academic, the planning permission was refused 16 months ago and I expect it would have been cancelled in the Spending Review, why bring it up now?

I still believe one of the reasons we were refused was the bloody Olympics, I have see the Hugh amount of roadworks in progress at Weymouth just for the sailing.   No doubt a fifth of it was Westbury Bypass money.   Call me cynical if you want.

It was strongly suggested at the time, that he had a "lady friend" who lived close to the proposed route!!

@Dorian   as Westbury has 2000 people on the waiting list for housing then presumably another estate will need to be built and thus the bypass and the rebuild of Matravers School. Would you agree?.

Shame about losing any green space though.
