Don't know about taking the whole test but maybe take a kind of refresher course just to get them back on track again, lets face it there are a lot (not all I hasten to add) who need a bit of a push in the right direction.. because if a younger new driver was to drive in the manner of some of our senior drivers they would never get their licence.

or just only allow them to drive between 1 and 4 am!

come to think of it the time limit should apply to caravanners, motor homers and trucks as well.

I would willing give up my licence "IF" I could have free transport on ALL forms of transport, rail, coach, & buses as now.
just think no road tax, insurance, MOT, repairs, and rising petrol costs, (£104.9 Ltr down here now)
the coach from Bideford to London takes 51/2 hours and costs £34:00.

Its easy for stirling moss to say that - he can afford a chauffeur, or to take the retest ad infinitum.  Maybe there should be a free test that everyone takes every 10 or 15 years?

Hate to be dull, but its not caravans that seize the roads up at holiday time - in fact, by slowing down the general trafiic they reduce the accident rate significantly, which means you may get there a few minutes later but at least you'll less likely die along the way.

If you applied that rule to trucks the economy would seize up.

So, topskills, all in all your idea is a load of balls  Wink

Lets face it, the public transport network in this country is a disgrace.

We have a transport network! it just needs a bit of working on "It's called the Railway" (not the pub down the road) It should be used at night to transport products,as it use to be.Put lorry trailers on special flat trucks, then move them to distribution depots.
Does IT have to be here TODAY. if company's have to have it "now" there supply management need a shake up.

To me our transport network should be getting the best use of the canals......

Supply chain is about cashflow.  I visited a warehouse oop North a while ago that used the rail network to get its supplies from factories in  Europe direct into a spur at the warehouse (through the tunnel).   Because of the dependance on the availability of the network, the need to fill trains, and the sheer unreliability of every element of the network on BOTH sides of the channel, they gave up with that as commercially unviable after 3 years.  It wasnt uncommon for it to take up to 3 weeks to get a train of goods from Poland to the North of England - bearing in mind that it has to get through customs etc, and each trailer could see up to five different engines getting across the rail network.

Thats a bit of a generalisation about trailer tent owners!
I do find the generalisations people make about big Audi and BMW owners to be, generally, true, however.
