Just had this enquiry through the Visitor Centre website and I thought it would be good for Kathleen to have more than my view. Personally I love living in Westbury but its not always easy to say why one place attracts you over another.  Smiley

Can you tell me what it is like to live in Westbury as I am looking into moving to that area. I would like to know what the bus service is like as I do not drive.I would like some information as regards hospitals and surgeries, having already suffered from some surgeries. I am into photography especially wildlife. Can you also inform me as to which water company serve the area.

As my partner Karen and I lived in Westbury for approximately 2 tears and moved away 2 years ago we can give some short term feedback.
You had a supermarket. You had Charity shops. You had a (pretty grotty) cafe. You have an excellent barbers. You have good womens salons. You have a library. You have the White Horse as an attraction. You have better facilities in Trowbridge and Warminster within easy travel by bus. You have Longleat as an attraction with easy access. You have plenty of pubs. You can take many nice walks. It can be a bit boring if you are the "stay at home" partner in a relationship. You get drunken yobs in the square and centre but everywhere has them nowadays. Good surgery. No hospital. That's a long drive away. (correct me if I'm wrong)
Overall a nice pleasant peaceful place to live. Friendly locals. Not much to do.
I would say to get the best out of the area you would need a car. I wouldn't want to live in Westbury without having a car.
It depends largely on where you are coming from, what kind of person you are and what you expect to do .

We have two great restaurants in Deans and the Garden House, lots and lots of cheapy places to eat, great takeaways that deliver.  A town centre thats suffering in the recession like most - but a good butchers and soon to have a morrissons.  We have branches of a couple of banks.  We have a mainline train station so you can hop on it and go anywhere usually with no changes.
