Anyone tried this form of treatment?

If so did you find it beneficial and can you recommend a local Hypnotherapist?

Sorry CC only just noticed your post. This is the list of registered practitioners for Wiltshire:

http://www.hypnotherapistregister.com/Hypnotherapist%20Wiltshire.htm

There are a number in Trowbridge and Warminster. I don't know any of them. I did go to one in Bristol many years ago. One session was enough for me and I wouldn't personally try it again but that's just me of course.

I've seen it be very effective - especially as most conditions are in the mind.   BUT I have also heard of it opening some "Unlocked doors" that have driven users into a lasting depression - in fact, if you buy a hypnotherapy cd it does say "Do not use if you are depressed" usually.

Really?  I have been using a Hypno CD for the last few days, must admit I did not read anything much other than about the man who does the meditation type thing.

I am really struggling with anxiety at the moment, it rears its head now and then.

I do not mind admitting that I am struggling at the moment, too many people suffer with it and think its a shameful thing.

I can be open about how I feel, but I am looking for a fix for it and was considering Hypno.

Maybe best to ring a local one for chat/info I guess.

I used a hypnotherapy CD when I was pregnant. I found it helped a lot.

Sorry to hear about the anxiety.  A member of my family suffers from this, and the only thing he found useful was a regular session with local specialised counselling over a period of months.  As most anxieties appear to come from deep rooted issues that can't be sorted overnight, it may be best to consider seeking a long-term coping mechanism rather than a "quick fix".  Hope this helps.

Yes thankyou for all your responses both public and messages.   Because of suggestions I have taken some steps to meeting up with a counsellor who specialises in cognitive behaviour therapy, I am certainly open to anything and hope to find some resolve soon. Thumb up!

CC. Whatever you do hope it goes well.
I only got a quick glance yesterday so can't give you the details, but the Visitor Centre has a poster up for local Mindfullness Meditation courses which specifically mention stress reduction.

http://www.mindfulness-meditation.net/

The Centre is closed Weds afternoons but if you phone 01373 825784 I'm sure someone could get the details for you, if you are interested.

Can I mention the alternative therapist Neil Harris (01225) 751541 who lives near the old WWDC offices and is highly recommended by people I trust.
