What kind of parents allow there two, six to eight year old daughters and there visiting girl friends, chase each other on scooters, up and down a busy road, in and out of parked vehicles! and round and round car parks! Tonight but for the fortune of good brakes, i nearly hit one on entering our car park!! The parents are supposingly a well bought up pair, but im afraid they have no idea on the safety of there and others children Roll Eyes amazing!!

I am amazed at the amount of tots that run around my estate, some as young as three and four, knocking on my door, on skooters and bikes, on and off the road.

Why?

Children are so precious.

No way Alena would be allowed out to play tho she has been called for numerous times, in fact Cerys has only been out the front to play a handful of times, thou Morgan is allowed in the field and near the brook.

We've got it where we are on Leigh park - its not safe for the children and they frequently run out in front of us pulling onto our road or wobble around on their bikes - not helped cos there are some ruddy maniacs living on our estate who really dont know how to drive at a reasonable speed for the conditions.

its all a bit ironic cos theres a proper playing field over the road, but i guess parents are too paranoid to let their kids go that frar nowadays.

Ettie was just going to pick the nipper up from the childminder yesterday evening when she saw 2 young children wandering the streets of Leigh Park. She and another concerned woman stopped to see if they were ok. They were a 6yo looking after a 3yo  Undecided and were lost. The girl (6yo) knew her address but didn't know how to get there. Ettie went to the house to get the parents while the other woman stayed with the kids, but when she got there the parents didn't really give a damn  Angry  It was left up to a friend to collect the kids.

They really should sterilise "parents" like that.

I suggest with children that young it amounts to child abuse and I think I would at least email the NSPCC
http://www.nspcc.org.uk/
to let them know. Probably not much they can do at this stage, but at least they are alerted to a potential problem. Next time it could be much worse. But well done to Ettie for at least trying to help.

"Abuse" is probably too strong a word for it, IMHO "neglect" would be more appropriate.

Of course if you share the mentality of some of the people who read and respond on the Wilt Times site, you will assume that it is just single parents who have the ferral children.  Roll Eyes

Can I just say CC, in my experience, single parents are usually very good parents. Perhaps they feel they need to supply twice the love, I don't know, but the feral children I have personally met all seem to have two parents - though parents is stretching the meaning of the word to my mind. I won't argue with Pete but - a six and a three year old left wandering the streets on their own - that seems more than just neglect to me. Personal view of course.

I was at a really great child minding group this morning. This little girl just wouldn't let me dip her banana in her milk. Now that is probably child teasing abuse! But the kids were just so happy and being so well looked after - Pete's story really upset me.

I would also agree that thedetails should be sent to the NSPCC. It is useless involving Social Services.
