... is mine! I 75% expected a post on here about it.

If anyone's driven to Trowbridge along the B3097 the car in the ditch is mine  Cry. I'm shaken but otherwise fine and currently awaiting the insurer recovery people to contact me to say how soon recovery will happen.

There was water from a water leak that Wessex Water are now repairing, however it had frozen and at just after 7am the road was very icy. I lost control, mounted the verge and ended up in situ. Thankfully, fighting gravity, I was able to get out and thankfully nobody else involved in any way.

Yep, noticed it this morning – thought the road looked like it had slush on it.  Said to B I wasn’t surprised as it was an accident waiting to happen.  Wish they would sort out the potholed stretch of road just after that corner – it’s a disgrace and dangerous to motorbikists.  You cant have been going very fast – the car looked relatively undamaged – although youll have lots of lovep scratches up the side of it.

Yup, Ettie and I saw the car this morning as I was taking her to Trowbridge. Glad you're ok.

Thanks people  Smiley. I am ok, still feeling odd though (not looking forward to trying to sleep tonight) & with nothing to drive over the weekend.

The car was recovered at about midday and has been taken to the insurers 'compound' to be inspected. Amazingly it is nowhere near as bad as feared : scratches due to the hedge, a dent towards the nearside back bumper and pretty relieving to have the mechanic drive it onto the lorry.

More amazingly, someone must have been watching out for me, I had 'landed' literally inches beyond a sunken culvert type wall. Cannot remember the last few seconds of the incident though to be sure of movements.

Dave : I have pics on my phone of the ice/slush/mud and my car. So they're there if/when needed.

Yokel : yes indeed. Apparantly the water main leak was meant to be fixed by Wessex Water by Tuesday (3 March) and yes they turned up today to work on it  Lips Sealed. The water had frozen overnight with air temperatures of around -2c (ground temperatures probably more like -4c or -5c) and some of it appeared to have been muddy slush which had frozen and that's what I lost control on. Then, at about 08.00, the council turned up & gritted it just as the sun was melting everything  Sad !!

There was a sign out showing a snowflake, they must be out of 'ICE' signs  Huh .

Also Yokel, no I wasn't going very fast. Probably 40mph - wish I'd have been doing 30mph but there we go. It was really annoying to see some people drive past, see my car, and shake their heads/smirk probably thinking 'some idiot driver' - which I'm not.

its just a car in a ditch on its side. very nicely parked though!

Cheers! I think  Undecided .

Yes i saw your car this morning Andy on way to work, pleased to hear you were uninjured.
Again..isnt it amazing how it takes an accident to eventually get things done.
9am this morning a collection of water board vans lined up ready for action in Dursley Road.
All week, on the bend at the Hawkeridge road, Trowbridge bound, the roads been wet through, after traffic going through roadside water leak. Roll Eyes

Glad to hear you are ok.

When we saw it this morning, I said to Pete that I hoped there wasn't anyone in the passenger
side, or they would have taken most of the impact.

Try not to go through all the might have beens, you're still here, cars survived, and we
are all glad you're ok if a bit battered and bruised.  End of a bad week I hope.  Fresh start at the weekend.  Smiley

That said, stunning crash though. No more James Bond type stunts for you me lad....
