A nice happy story to start 2009.

Maria Murray, 41, a mother of four, won the prize with a £5 scratchcard she bought from her local shop with the last change in her pocket on Christmas Eve.

She said: "It was my last five pounds. It has not really sunk in yet that I have won. I do not know what I will do yet."

Not sure I would spend my last £5 on the lottery, but it worked for her.

More on her win. I like her attitude!
She lives in Avonmouth by the way - not so far away.
