Although I'm only on the periphary, the Town Council and the Chamber of Commerce do a lot to try and attract new business to Westbury but with huge shops like Woolworth's going down
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/3480546/Troubled-Woolworths-in-crunch-talks.html
it's damn tough out there and I suspect a lot of more 'marginal' businesses will go in the next few years. Sad though and obviously not good for the town which needs all the trade it can get.

I don’t worry so much about shops closing and leaving – new shops come along eventually and that constant turnaround is what the town needs to keep contemporary.
However, in the current climate I do worry that new shops won’t come along (there won’t even be any estate agents to move in now they are getting their just desserts) – I know I certainly wouldn’t be looking to start my own business at the moment.
It looks like he is closing shop for reasons not only due to the “crunch” – it would be foolish to admit to closing because of the crunch if you want to sell your business.
