I see on the other forum certain people are wittering on about the fair again--keeps them happy I suppose!!-- so for their information I will say that the showmen have to put a large amount of money up front to cover any damage, cleaning up etc. etc. done to the site that they are using plus the rent, and any damage caused is taken out of the sum that is held in bond.

they may well do but they did leave the road rather muddy and dangerous farmers have to clear up straight away it took them 3 days what with the rain and mud could of caused a nasty accident imho

Don't mention farmers and mud on the roads!!! when I used to deliver all around the Capps Lane, Steeple Ashton, Bratton, Edington and Coulston areas you nearly wanted a Snow Plough on the front of the van to clear the mud off the roads they never heard of clearing the mud, but they did get a little educated in later years, they put up signs saying 'Mud on Road' and then left it on the road and if you had an accident it was your fault cos you had been warned!

They have a job to do, and we live in the countryside, what do we expect?  So long as they do a reasonable (but not perfect) job of tidying up after themselves then theres no reason to moan.
