Hi there.  My name is Carla and I’m the founder of 1 of the Family.  I live on Leigh Park, Westbury, married to Mark and I’m completely animal mad!!

Having grown up with dogs, I’m the proud owner of Midas who is a 9 year old Golden Retriever and Ebony a 7 year old Black Labrador.  We rescued Midas from the RSPCA when he was nine months old and can’t quite believe that he’s nearly 10!!             

I understand the time and commitment needed to take care of our furry friends and in today’s society time certainly isn’t on our side.

Whether you need someone to let your dog out, feed your cat or fish, or take your beloved pooches for a countryside walk, 1 of the Family is on hand to provide a nurturing environment including lots of love and cuddles a plenty!

Dog Walking

1 of the Family can call round to your house and take your beloved friend for a walk (up to a maximum of 3 dogs at any one time, depending on their size!).  This will mean that your dog won’t be alone for hours on end!  The amount of times I’ve worried about getting home in time for the dogs, I can help those fellow dog owners out by entertaining your pooch with a lovely countryside walk to dispose of some of their energy!!

House Sitting

With the holiday season in full swing it is sometimes the hardest part of going away; leaving your pet in a kennel can be also be very stressful for your dog.  So, why not allow me to stay in your home while you are away?  This will allow me to keep your pets company in your own home and stay at your house overnight. I can also pop back once or twice during the day if needed (i.e. to administer medication, take dogs out for a lunchtime walk etc.)  There is an additional charge for any extra visits during the day.  This service provides extra home security as I’m living in your house while you're away. This is ideal if you have a number of pets! 24hr service available, please ask for further details.

Dog Boarding 08.30 – 18.00

While you're at work you can drop your dog off for me to provide some company during the day, with a walk at lunchtime and then you will be able to pick him/her up on your way home.  I have a secure rear garden and plenty of space for them to round around.  Midas & Ebony will help out with playtime!

Dog Boarding - overnight

1 of the Family’s dog boarding service will only look after one person’s dog(s) at any one time, ensuring that home from home environment and one to one attention to keep your four-legged friend relaxed and feel like 1 of the Family!!  This is a great alternative to kennels and means that your best friend is welcomed into a dog-loving family.

Pet Visit

If you are at work all day and need someone to spend some time with your pet or if you have a puppy/elderly dog who can’t keep their paws crossed, I can spend that much needed time with them in your absence.  If you can’t juggle work, picking up the kids from school, shopping and seeing to the animals; let me help with my pet visiting service.  This service always includes bowls being cleaned, fresh water, litter trays emptied, cages cleaned etc.  I am also happy to administer medication. In addition to looking after your pet I can also move any post, put your bins out on bin day, take care of home security i.e. open/close curtains, lights on/off and water plants. 

I’m also very happy to text you while you're away if you want to be reassured! 


Pet Taxi Service is also available.  Please ask for more details.  Prices will depend on requirements.

1 of the Family is fully insured and CRB checked.

Locations include Westbury, Frome, Warminster, Trowbridge and surrounding areas.

All services are subject to availability.

Dog walking 30min visit £8.00 (£10.00 for 2 dogs)     1 hour £15.00 (£17.00 for 2 dogs)
Pet visit 30min visit £8.00  1 hour £15.00
Dog Boarding 08.30 – 18.00 £20.00 per dog              24-27hours/overnight £30.00 per dog

Special rates will apply if a week or more is required. Please ask for more
details. Boarding dependant on availability and a kennel cough vaccination is
required.

House Sitting (circa 7/8am – 7/8pm / overnight) £40/£90

Booking 1 of the Family
You can contact me on 07738 570444 or carla.harvey@btinternet.com. You
will be asked for a 20% non-refundable deposit on confirming dates, with the
remainder of the bill to be settled in full 2 weeks before the booking.
Cheques can be made payable to Mrs Carla Harvey.

If you live more than 7 miles away, I may have to charge mileage but I will let
you know before you book.

Thank you for your kind comments I have got a website for you to look at, all you have to do is click on the Earth under my photo to see what I do. I've not been on the Yell.com for about 3-4 years now, they just keep my old telephone number up I have asked them to it.

I really hope that your business takes off here in Westbury especially the Pet Taxi as we only have one Vets practice in the Town and it will help pet owners who have their dogs registered in Warminster or Trowbridge.

Does anyone know anyone who does pet visiting/dog walking in Westbury?

I did contact Carla (1 of the Family) and she doesn't do it any more.
I'm looking for someone to visit my two dogs on a lunchtime just to let them in the garden and give them a bit of compnay while i have some work in Bristol (usually work from home every day)
